Character study

I’m going to go through a portion of a class I did with my students recently. I’ll do it in two halves, so as to eke out my pitifully meagre well of newsletter-content across two posts. In the first half we’ll look at making strong illustrated characters and in the second we’ll think about how context can help us enrich them further. I’ll say ‘we’ a lot, as if we’re all hanging out in one room, you can decide how annoying that is, or isn’t.
